Narrowing the gap: Nathalie Brugger steps up for Tudor Team Alinghi

Swiss Olympic sailor Nathalie Brugger is back with Alinghi for AC38 – this time aiming for a place on the AC75 race crew. I spoke to her about closing the performance gap, breaking into the Cup’s inner circle, and embracing the challenge head on.

Swiss sailor Nathalie Brugger is no stranger to top-level sail racing. Having represented her country at three consecutive Olympic Games – Beijing 2008 and London 2012 in the Laser Radial, and Rio 2016 crewing for Matias Bühler in the Nacra 17 – she turned coach for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, before skippering Alinghi’s entry in the inaugural Women’s America’s Cup in Barcelona during AC37.

Now she is back with the Tudor Team Alinghi Swiss challenger for AC38, but this time as part of the main sailing squad – where she will be racing alongside skipper Paul Goodison (GBR), Phil Robertson (NZL), Jason Waterhouse (AUS), Pietro Sibello (ITA), and Nicolas Rolaz (SUI).
