Artemis Racing poach Brad Farrand from Red Bull Italy

Artemis SailGP has confirmed New Zealand sailor Brad Farrand as jib trimmer for the team’s debut season.

Farrand arrives with a stacked sailing résumé and a cool-headed reputation that SailGP fans will instantly recognise from his time with Red Bull Italy.

But this signing is more than just a smart performance move - it’s a homecoming.

Gothenburg Farrand has deep family roots in Sweden and previously sailed under the Artemis banner on the RC44 circuit, making his return feel like a full-circle moment for both sailor and supporters.

For Artemis CEO Iain Percy, the move adds both experience and a familiar, trusted presence to the new-look Swedish crew.

“Brad is not only an incredibly skilled sailor but also someone who understands the culture and focus that define Artemis,” Percy said - a message that will resonate strongly with fans excited to see a team built on identity as much as results.

Farrand himself is fired up for the challenge of racing under Swedish colours in front of a passionate and fast-growing SailGP fanbase.

“When I heard Artemis was joining SailGP, I immediately saw the chance to represent Sweden and race with a team that has such an incredible legacy,” he said.

“With my family roots in Sweden, it’s a proud moment to carry that connection forward, and I know my daughters will be cheering and waving the Swedish flag as we race.

“Returning to the Artemis family in their new chapter and racing alongside other Swedish sailors is something I’m proud of.

"It’s a new chapter and an exciting challenge, and I’m looking forward to helping the team perform at our best."

Farrand joins driver Nathan Outteridge, strategist Julia Gross and grinder Julius Hallström in the Artemis SailGP line-up, alongside reserve sailors Hugo Christensson and Felicia Fernström.

With the remaining athletes set to be revealed ahead of Artemis SailGP’s long-anticipated debut in Perth on January 17/18, excitement is building fast.
