The French syndicate has been a little quiet recently since flooding their AC75 during a capsize in Lorient a few weeks ago, so it seemed like an opportune time to revisit my interview with Jason, which I had begun by asking him about his impressive French language skills...
JC: I was impressed to hear you speaking to the local media here in fluent French. What’s the story behind that?
JS: Well, my partner, Manon Audinet, is French. She was the skipper of the French Women's America's Cup team in the last edition. We've been together for 11 years now. I've now got a French passport as well as my New Zealand one. Our son, Louis, was born in France. So we've definitely got a strong link with France, and it's great to be able to continue that for another America's Cup cycle.
